Youth vs Elderly on Voting

My thoughts first of all is that, I am not effected that much from the video. As I'm not the legal age for voting nor am I a citizen of the United States of America. However I find that the video is really effective in getting its message across. The video has this type of aggressiveness towards the viewer, and more specifically the younger demographic. I notice that the words also chosen to entice the viewer to do the complete opposite of which the elderly are trying to prevent you from doing, which is voting. It is also known that the advertisement was successful in which it was trying to accomplish. As there was about 800,000 vote registered this year which had passed the all time high record of votes registered back in 2016. I think this statistic proves that there had been much more younger people voting this time around maybe mostly due to the effect of the advertisement, which was spread all over the internet. Overall although this video does not effect me in where I live, I found that it was a effective video in getting younger people to vote.
I totally agree with you, at first when i saw the word "vote" I thought to myself, "why should I care and why does this apply to me?" When it in-fact DOES apply to my generation and I. I think that the millennials of America should vote, but then again maybe it's better if they don't. Some might vote "for the memes" and to have a good laugh, whilst others might not vote at all because they are "too busy" or rather "too lazy" to vote.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. When I first watched the ad, I immediately noticed the lack of young representation. I could see the purpose of the ad in seconds, and the purpose is a very significant one. The ad is humorous reverse psychology to make young people think that their vote is unnecessary. The most political people are always the older people. Younger people should care much more about political elections, because they are going to be here for a lot longer than elders.
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly concur with you, Miguel. I believe that the younger citizens of the United States should cast their vote for president. I think that the use of old people shaming the younger population of America was a good take at solving the solution of the younger citizens not casting their vote.
